 How does SIM swapping work ?

Upon successful verification, the mobile carrier deactivates the victim’s original SIM card and activates the new one provided by the attacker. This gives the attacker control over the victim’s phone number.

• Intercepting Communications

With control over the victim’s phone number, the attacker can intercept calls, text messages, and even authentication codes sent via SMS. This compromises the victim’s digital accounts, allowing the attacker to conduct unauthorized transactions or gain access to sensitive information.
